A bright discount badge is easy to notice. The amount you will actually pay is less obvious.

Before an online sale purchase, a careful shopper checks the exact item, the previous and current price, the dates of the offer, the cost of delivery, and the conditions that still apply after payment. Those details matter more than the size or colour of the badge.

The timing is useful in Saudi Arabia. On 21 July, the Ministry of Commerce announced that the 2026 sales season will run from 1 August to 31 October. The announcement encourages comparison and explains that consumers can verify the data shown on an official discount licence. 1. Match the discount to the exact product

Start with identity. A sale may apply to one size, colour, material, bundle, or model while a nearby option remains at its regular price. On a compact mobile screen, the selected variation can also change after a shopper returns from the basket or opens the page through a saved link.

A useful test is simple: could you describe the exact item on one line without relying on the photograph? If not, resolve the variation or bundle before comparing prices.

2. Read the price before and after the discount

A percentage on its own is not enough. Look for the previous price and the current selling price in SAR. The Saudi Ministry of Commerce’s published rules for commercial discounts include clear price cards showing the price before and after a discount.

Make sure both amounts refer to the same product and variation. A higher crossed-out price beside a smaller pack or a different model does not create a useful comparison. The current price should also remain consistent between the product page, basket, and checkout.

If a merchant displays an official discount licence, the Ministry says the consumer can use the code shown on that licence to view information such as the discount type, percentage, period, and establishment data. Do not treat a decorative badge or an unrelated QR code as the same thing.

3. Calculate the saving in SAR

Translate the promotion into money. Subtract the current price from the previous price. For example, a product reduced from SAR 480 to SAR 360 saves SAR 120.

To check the percentage, divide the saving by the previous price and multiply by 100. In that example, 120 divided by 480 equals 25%. This takes a few seconds with a phone calculator and catches mismatched labels.

Use the calculation as a comparison tool, not as proof of a price history. A genuine price-history check requires reliable records for the same item over time. Laylati should not describe a saving as independently verified unless that supporting record exists.

4. Check the offer period and conditions

A sale price may have a start date, end date, stock limit, customer limit, code requirement, or variation restriction. Read those conditions before assuming that the visible price will remain available later.

Pay particular attention to bundles. A lower-looking price may cover one item rather than the complete set shown in the image. A free gift may require a particular variant or minimum order. 5. Add delivery and every checkout cost

  • Discount: the code or offer applied, if one is required.

  • Other disclosed charges: any amount added before the final total.
  • Final total: the amount and currency that the order asks you to confirm.

6. Read return, refund, and warranty boundaries

A discount should not make the after-sale terms invisible. Read the return and refund policy for the exact category, including any hygiene, opened-package, damaged-item, or inspection condition. Check whether the store asks for photographs, an order reference, or contact within a stated period.

Review the current returns and refunds page before payment. If a sale condition changes an ordinary policy, that difference should be clear before the order is placed.

7. Save a clean order record

After payment, keep the order confirmation, final total, product title and variation, delivery charge, offer terms, and the support route. A screenshot of the product page can help, but the order confirmation and invoice are stronger records of what was accepted at checkout.

Keep the record private. There is rarely a reason to post an order number, delivery address, phone number, or payment reference in a public comment. Use the store’s authenticated account or private support channel when a price or delivery question needs review.
